The Unofficial SecondConf Pre-Party Details

SecondConf 2013 kicks off on Friday 9/27 @ 4:30 PM.  Since the inception of SecondConf, a bunch of us have been gathering the night before at the Duke of Perth.

The Duke of Perth is a fantastic little pub on the near-north side of Chicago with a remarkable Scotch and beer selection.  If your travel plans permit it, please join us. A good time will be had by all.

Follow me (@ChicagoBob) on Twitter.  I’ll be asking for RSVP’s and a final head count the week before.

SecondConf 2013 Pre-Party Info

Last year’s pre-party went so well, I’m going to try to coordinate one this year too.

The Thursday before SecondConf we’ll gather the at Duke of Perth for a great time and great Scotch (the Duke is a great Scotch bar).  I just wanted to give folks a heads up and ask you to follow me (@ChicagoBob) or SecondConf (@SecondConf).

About 3 weeks before SecondConf, I’ll be asking for a headcount of folks interested in attending a pre-party, and we plan to go back to Duke of Perth (or if lots of folks want, we might consider some place new - stay tuned).

PS: include disclaimer.h, the pre-party is extra and not part of SecondConf.

SecondConf 2012 Pre-Party Meetup Info

Last year’s pre-party went so well, I’m going to try to coordinate one this year too.

Last year, the Thursday before SecondConf about 16 folks (mostly local & a few out of towers that got in early), gathered at Duke of Perth for a great time and great Scotch (the Duke is a great Scotch bar).

I just wanted to give folks a heads up and ask you to follow me (@ChicagoBob) or SecondConf (@SecondConf).  About 3 weeks before SecondConf, I’ll be asking for a headcount of folks interested in attending a pre-party, and will let everyone know the final plans then, we might try to go back to Duke of Perth, or try some place new - stay tuned.

PS: include disclaimer.h, the pre-party is extra and not part of ScondConf.

Atlas Shrugged movie review

There are two novels that can change a bookish fourteen-year old’s life: The Lord of the Rings and Atlas Shrugged. One is a childish fantasy that often engenders a lifelong obsession with its unbelievable heroes, leading to an emotionally stunted, socially crippled adulthood, unable to deal with the real world. The other, of course, involves orcs.
